Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. (1 Peter 2:12)
Honesty is very important thing for Christian, because the character of the Lord is on basis of it. Meet the mind of the Lord in the Bible. He made a promise many things, but never broke his promise even one time. He can’t be compared with today’s leaders who use one’s mind and conduct him to a profitable situation for them.
People think that there isn’t any problem at living the world without honesty, so they change their appointment, and justify a lie. However, we must keep in mind that the Lord never forgives even a minor untruth. Look at Ananias and Sapphira. They promised to devote their possession in the presence of others and the Lord, but they changed their appointment, kept back part of the price, and devoted a certain part to the Lord. How was the conclusion? When they stand in the face of Peter, they felled down one by one. The reason was that they cheat the Holy Spirit.
People can explain that this cast is a special circumstance takes place in only the first generation church, but we must remember that the Lord isn’t liberal to liars, because a lie is a weapon of Satan. He made Adam and Eve sin with this lie, and is making many people children of hell constantly.
Christian must have honesty. It can’t be finished with words, but it have to be showed through our life. The honesty will receive praise of people, also the Lord will be honored by it. Of course, after the honor, the reward of the Lord will be followed.
Many people say ‘honesty’, but honesty of Christian isn’t easy than the world’s one; it will include many difficulties and mockeries of people. However, if we bear and forbear all the things, we can make fruitful. Honest life can be defamed from many people for a moment, but it will give us a chance to let the Lord have glory. We can get bigger fruit than lessons we shout out to the empty sky. Remember that our honesty life is best way of evangelism.
