Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (1 Peter 2:11)

We already have ever meditated on a fact that we live as strangers and pilgrims. Yes, we never put our hope in this world, so we can live without greed about the world. If one can’t throw off all restraint about the world, he isn’t the right man for the kingdom of the Lord. A genuine Christian will make the kingdom of heaven a hope and go straight down the way of faith.

The main opponent for those Christian is carnal desire. Though our flesh corrupts in future, it competes with our holy life without a pause. People think the success of the flesh is the success of the life, but in actual fact it is leading his life to ruin. People think it is success to have much money, to get a honor and power, and to have a broad knowledge, but they will have a difficult and confused time on account of the possession, because it can’t satisfy them.

Remember that carnal desire compete our soul. Of course, a soul that isn’t born again covets carnal desire, and may happy for a while because of that. However, at least to Christian, the carnal desire will make their life tough. Look at the life of Paul. He suffers pain from his conditions of the flesh. His native, honor, and much knowledge became obstacles to his life as Christian.

Today, many Christians strive to gain the world instead of dismiss. They hope to gain fame through much money, honor or position in the world, or knowledge. However, this way can’t be a right way for Christian, because it will disappear like dust.

Please win in the war against carnal desire. We must do our bet for holy life. It is a correct posture of life as strangers and pilgrims. If we pursue the satisfaction of the flesh and settle down there, we already fail in the spiritual war. Win in the war. The Lord is fighting for our life of a victory to this day. Remember that there is the Lord’s support on a way of faith we are walking now.
