Use hospitality one to another without grudging. (1 Peter 4:9)
It is not easy to share something in our life because most people think that they can do it when they have time or money to spare, and it is the actual. It is difficult to look for sharing from the poor, and they complain of it when they do that. Then, how do Christians have to cope with this matter?
It is sure that one capable of using hospitality to others must do his best for doing it. Material blessing the Lord give us is for helping the poor and sharing with others. If we use it for ourselves, it is same to give up what the Lord commissions to us, life as a steward, and we won’t receive any reward from God for sure. The rich must know the way of sharing. It is the good conscience Christians have.
If so, what attitude should the poor have for using hospitality to others? They must do that with the belief ‘the giver is blessed’ based on the words of the Lord. God will overflow to people who use hospitality each other. There are many evidences in the Old Testament. Look at a widow who treated Elisha. She blessed of not dried jar by using her last food for him. These words are not for just a command ‘make welcome the people of God’, but it includes that the Lord will compensate for the people who are hospitable to the poor with good mind.
We know that there is a condition for these hospitality; no discontent. It means hospitality not with any expectation or desire but with pure mind. If a man uses hospitality to others looking for blessing, he will have a high misstep possibility and will be full of complaints. It is not a right hospitality. So does that of the rich. Nowadays, some people make welcome others and demand them to live in obedience to his belief and plan. Others want to make welcome when other people meet their demand. These deeds are never sound. Though others have a different thinking from me, we must help them for sure if they need it. For this, we have to recognize that all ours is God’s. Aren’t we miserly to using hospitality to others? I hope that you make efforts to use hospitality without discontents.
