1. A lamp on lamp-stand

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.(Matthew 5:15,16)

We can see an interesting verse through the parable of a lamp on lamp-stand. That means you're using the phrase "your light" to your disciples. The meaning of this word shows that the disciples themselves are the ones who act as light. Yes, it applies to us today and requires Christians to live their lives as light. We need to pay attention to the fact that the parable of a lamp on lamp-stand is written not only in the Matthew, but also in the Mark and Luke. This is to say that all Christians belonging to Jesus Christ are important lessons to teach that it is light.

He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand?(Mark 4:21)

"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.(Luke 8:16)

"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.(Luke 11:33)

The role of light, naturally, is to make it shine in the light of people. If light is hidden under something, it cannot function. Light should be placed in a position where everything can be lit, and it should be in a position where it can be seen to the most corners. And that's why we've hung the light on the ceiling in our homes. This is very meaningful in terms of the role of Christians

In relation to the role of his disciples, Jesus says light is a "good deeds" and tell them to glorify God. This is how Christians must live in the world. Yes, Christians must be able to do good things in order to give the world glory to God. So what is good? Most people think it's a good thing to save a difficult neighbor and serve him devotedly. Of course, these are good deeds. But it's not a fundamental good thing. If you understand that these are all good deeds, they may not necessarily be given to Christ. So, what is the good thing the Bible says?

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus(Philippians1:6)

We need to know where the good comes from first. Of course, It comes from God. The Bible says that nothing is good except God (Matthew19:17, Mark10:18, Luke18:19). And God is doing good in us. God puts what is good in our hearts and lets us do what is good with it (Matthew12:35, Luke6:45). So what good is God in our hearts? Of course, it's all you can do as a Christian. One of the most prominent of them is to preach the gospel.

Peter says "good deeds" for his preaching of the gospel, as he is questioned after preaching it (Acts 4:9). Because it comes from God. Paul is talking about good things and it is talking about "righteousness, peace and joy" (Rome 14:16-18). When we talk about good things, we must be able to say, of course, that we came from God. If we try to share good with evil by measuring it by human standards, we can be devastated. We need to pay attention to another fact here in what Paul recommended.

Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us(2 Timothy1:14)

Even if we decide to live the life of the light of the world according to your commands, it cannot be our will. Rather, they can be shunned by God. Of course, Christians must live as the light of the world. But this is only possible when you rely on the Holy Spirit. We must examine whether the Holy Spirit is with us and have the wisdom to live according to his will.
