For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries (1 Peter 4:3)
The Bible shows what the Gentiles want. We can say it is the temptations in our life because it is things we had done before our salvation and it is evil rarely thrown away.
We know well through the Bible that the eyes toward the other sex changed after committing sins. After eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam and Eve were ashamed of their naked body and hided those with leaves of a fig tree. The Lord made coats of skins and clothed them. Covering the body means covering sins. People started to keep away from God, to be indulged, and to take the way of sexual depravity. It has been kept in all human history and broke the basic rules of the Lord; one husband-one wife. This is the result of sins and Christians have to think about it seriously.
What about excessive drinking? As we know, alcohol is generally made of fermented grains or fruits. In other words, it is intentionally gone badly. It makes people intoxicated and feels like they are happy. Of course, someone who loves alcohol may contradict of it. I think there is no need to criticize of proper drinking too, but a little alcohol will tempt people drink more and finally people will have excessive drinking, so they cannot help speaking for their corruption. They will face more and more sins, and they forget even the fact that they are in sins in the end.
The other characteristic of Gentiles is idol worship. Even though they are stingy for God, they are very active for idol worship. After the judgment in Noah age, people hope being free from the judgment of God with every means. They built a tower and made other gods to guard themselves; every visible things-sun, moon, stars, animals, plants, fishes, etc. However, they must know that neither of which can relieve them. Now, we have to think whether we are going the stupid way like Gentiles.
